5 Easy Steps - Get the Best Colored Gemstone
In my last post on picking the right colored gemstone I talked about the various options you have in each color and how you must avoid misinterpretation and being tricked. Now I assume you are interested, or will be interested at some point in the future, in buying gems from one of those retail stores keeping in mind the suggestions I have been giving you over the last few weeks.
However, our main task is finding out the price of each alternative in a particular color, and finding out all the alternatives in a particular color in the first place. So I have this guide for you. I will tell you how to use it, and what mistakes not to make (even though I have probably mentioned them a million times). Here are the steps you follow:
Selecting the Gemstone
- Decide your color and make a list of all the varieties available in that color. For example, if you want a green gem, other than the emerald you have green garnet, green tourmaline and many more.
- Make a relative analysis of their prices. In our example, we would find that the emerald, the green garnet and the green tourmaline are in increasing order of affordability.
- Take a note of the availability of the gem. For example, other than the above three, we may also go for a green sapphire which is more affordable than all three of them. But is very difficult to find.
- Find the price range of each stone. If a stone has a large range, then it means that a difference in clarity or color is more important in terms of value.
- Find the history and cultural significance associated with each stone. These might be peculiarly important.
